On 15th July 2013 at Metropole Hotel Phuket, the Office of the Permanent Secretary held a meeting with sea gypsy representatives from Phuket, Ranong, Krabi, Phang-Nga and Satul to listen to opinions about their lifestyle and culture and to see how is best for them to co-exist with the general public.
Khun Supranee Jantarattanawong from the Office of the Permanent Secretary said “We held a meetings to listen to the opinions of ethnic minority groups, in this instance the Sea Gypsies, to exchange information, knowledge and experiences so that all sectors are able to understand and see the importance of the existence of their group, and to encourage participation from all people when there are problems to be resolved for minority groups in areas of conflict.”
