Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra Golf & Spa has recently announced the appointment of Christian Schlegel as the resort’s new General Manager with effect from 26th January 2014.
A Swiss and Finnish citizen, Christian is fluent in 6 European languages including Italian and German and a graduate of the Lausanne Hotel Management School. Amongst his various management training, Christian was posted in Venezuela at the Diamond Dunes Hotel, a deluxe resort in Margarita Island.
In 2000, Christian was appointed Executive Assistant Manager in charge of Food & Beverage and Front Office departments for the Amari Palm Reef Resort in Koh Samui, Thailand. He was thereafter transferred to their property in Pattaya, the Amari Orchid Resort, in the same capacity in 2002. Later that same year, Christian moved to Bangkok to become the Executive Assistant Manager in charge of rooms at the Rembrandt Hotel, an internationally established four-star hotel where he was swiftly promoted to Resident Manager a year later.
Christian joined Sofitel in 2006 when he became the Resident Manager of Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra Golf & Spa for their pre-opening. He later became the Resident Manager of the then Sofitel Centara Grand Resort & Villas Hua Hin and was promoted in 2010 as the Hotel Manager for Sofitel Bangkok Silom. More recently, Christian was the Hotel Manager of Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit. In Krabi, Christian will be replacing Robin Deb who will be moving to Europe where he will be taking up the General Manager position for the opening of the Novotel / Ibis complex in Basel, Switzerland.
