On 12th March 2014 at Rawai Port in Amphur Muang Phuket, Phuket Governor – Miatree Intusut presided over an activity which saw the release of lobsters into the sea. The event was held in honor of Their Majesties the King and Queen. Also in attendance were Khun Kiattikun Jaroensawan of Phuket Fishery Office, Khun Thawat Sriveerachai – Director of Phuket Coastal Fisheries Research and Development Center as well as relevant officials and foreign tourists.
Khun Maitree said “The lobster releasing event is being held in order to preserve and increase the quantity of lobsters in Phuket’s waters. It is also to honor Their Majesties King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikrit who on this day 55 years ago visited Rawai and also released lobsters in to the sea.
