On 2nd April 2014 at Tala Beach in Tambol Paklok, Thalang – Paklok Municipality held a press conference” to announce that the first Paklok Food Festival will be held on 18th – 19th April 2014. The press conference was attended by Mayor of Tambol Paklok – Panya Sampaorat and Paklok Municipal Clerk – Raewat Sombatthong.
Khun Panya said “The purpose of this festival is to promote the products from the area, especially the non-toxic organic vegetables that local people have grown here. It also promotes tourism in the area with the abundance of seafood that will be on offer. In addition, it will also help to stimulate the economy in the area and strengthen the local community’s income. We now feel it is important to promote tourism in this community as they have a very different culture and lifestyle to other areas, and we want this to be more widely known. The event will feature a general food distribution zone and a variety of exhibitions highlighting dining options in the area, and a competition which will only feature native dishes. There will also be a traditional cooking exhibition from famous hotels in the area.”
