On 3rd July 2014 at Kamala Beach in Kathu, Phuket Governor – Maitree Intusut presided over an environmental conservation event in Kamala Village. Also present at the event were Kathu District Chief – Sayan Chanachaiwong along with military, police, as well as local government officials, residents and students.
Khun Maitree said “Under the orders of the National Council for Peace and Order, shops and establishments which have been set up on Kamala beach have now been dismantled in an operation organized by the Kamala OrBorTor in an attempt to give public land back to the tourists and local people of the area. I am pleased to say we have received good cooperation from the entrepreneurs and merchants in this mission and I hope that tourists who now visit Kamala beach will get to appreciate the real beauty of the beaches in Phuket.
“I would like to thank all sectors and volunteers who have taken part in this beach cleaning activity here at Kamala beach today, we will continue to campaign to maintain the cleanliness and conservation of our natural resources to make sure they are appealing to both residents and tourists.”
