An annual conference focusing on medical services was held for medical professionals on July 3rd 2014, at the Phuket Metropole Hotel. PPAO Chief Executive – Paiboon Upattising chaired the meeting which was also attended by PPAO Hospital Director – Dr Thana Pukahut, PPAO Chief Administrator – Watcharin Pathomwattanapong, PPAO Division Heads, officials, and medical professionals from hospitals in Phuket and neighboring provinces.
During the conference, lectures were delivered by Director of Thonburi Hospital Groups (Public Company) – Dr Boon Wanasin, and Head of ENT Department at Uttradit Hospital – Prof Dr Watcharapol Phunual. Lecture topics included “Medical Services of Today,” “Mind Set of New Medical Professionals,” and “Good Death,” for example. The program aims to educate medical professionals on new thinking and techniques of medical services of today.
Dr Thana Pukahut stated that the PPAO Hospital, which is the first ever to be administered by the Department of Local Administration attached to the Ministry of Interior, has been in operation since May 31, 2011. Its services have been well received and trusted by the public. However, with the hospital users on the increase, last year alone the Hospital cared for around 345,000 patients, the hospital aims to develop the quality of its services as well as the potential of its medical staff that will deliver cutting-edge technology and embrace new medical thinking.
Mr Paiboon commented that the conference, initiated by PPAO, would benefit not only medical professionals participated but also the public as a whole. He urged participants to use fully the skills learned during the conference in order to raise the standard of Phuket medical care. “PPAO Hospital is the nation’s model hospital,” he reminded the gathering.
