Over one hundred students from the PPAO Muang Phuket School took part in a basic emergency management workshop organized by PPAO at the school premises in Phuket Town. PPAO Chief Executive – Paiboon Upattising opened the event which was attended by PPAO Executives (Chief Administrator – Watcharin Pathomwattanapong, Council Chairman – Pradit Saengchan, Council Secretary – Kraiwut Khumban, Council members, division heads), the school’s administrators, teachers and students.
Two workshops will be offered to students of PPAO schools, the first, participated by 120 students from PPAO Muang Phuket School, was led by instructors from Patong Municipality. The aim of the program is to equip young people with basic disaster management skills including prevention, liaison operations, warning system and rescue procedures. It is hoped that, once trained, students will be confident enough to handle emergency situations effectively and without fear. Furthermore, the workshop will instill a sense of “safety first” among young people. Training modules, which simulate real-life experience, included general knowledge on fire, prevention and uses of equipment for different types of fires, steps to take in the case of a blaze, among others.
In his speech, Mr Paiboon highlighted the importance of emergency preparedness training and urged students to train well and equip themselves with these practical skills. He believes that young people will benefit from this workshop and ended by thanking all concerned.
