On 5th Ausut 2013 at Phuket Air Traffic Office in Amphur Thalang, PPAO Vice President – Sorratham Jinda presided over a “Lifeguard Training Program” event. The event was held with cooperation from the Royal Thai Navy 3, Phuket Marine Police and Phuket Life Guard Club and saw a number of Phuket’s general public, hotel staff, beach entrepreneurs and swimming association members in participation.
Khun Prataiyuth Cheryuan – Head of Phuket Life Guard Club said “PPAO provide life guards along the coast of Phuket to take care of tourists on the beaches. From January to July 2013 the lifeguards have helped 577 foreigners 64 Thai people who were very close to drowning. In order that these guards are able to assist visitors to the beaches properly it is essential that lifeguard training is organized to help to develop the guards knowledge in water safety and basic life saving so they in turn can assist victims better.”
