Houttuynia Cordata used in India for medicinal purposes

In some parts of India, especially the North-East region, the inhabitants of the area eat the entire Houttuynia Cordata plant as a salad for medicinal purposes, including lowering blood sugar levels. In addition, the juice from the leaves is extracted and used to treat illnesses which include cholera and dysentery. The extract can also be used externally to treat skin disorders and even snake bites.
