An annual sports event participated by all PPAO Schools came to a close on Saturday September 5th 2014 at Surakul Stadium in Phuket Town. PPAO Deputy Chief Executive – Soratham Jinda presided over the closing ceremony which was also attended by PPAO officials, school administrators, organizing committee, teachers, coaches and participating student athletes.
The event, which took place from September 1st – 5th, aims to encourage students to make good use of their free time and to create unity and solidarity among students of PPAO schools through sports and games. Altogether 3,000 students from five schools (PPAO Muang Phuket, PPAO Ban Talard Neu, PPAO Ban Mai Riap, PPAO Ban Nabon, and PPAO Sathit Ruam Pattana schools) competed in six sports including football, sepak takraw, beach volleyball, petanque, draughts, and track and field. The tournaments were held in various venues around Phuket including Surakul Stadium, Sapan Hin Sports Field, and in all the schools’ sports fields.
In his speech Mr Soratham highlighted the importance of sports as an instrument for health and fitness while at the same time helping to build character, forge team spirits and prevent drug abuse.
